Other chronic disorders

Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology in 213 individuals over three sessions resulted in 40% self reported improvement in chronic disorders. Conditions related to neck pain improved the most (51.25%), followed by respiratory ailments (48.00%), digestive problems (46.90%), mental health, including anxiety and depression (46.34%), arthritis (41.57%), insomnia (37.38%), back pain (36.32%), headaches (35.83%), cardiovascular conditions (22.31%), and eye problems (21.19%). Findings also showed significant reductions in frequency and intensity of discomfort and an overall improvement in mental health and vitality. Frontiers in Bioscience 2001; 6:H1-6.

Improved outcomes were documented for 4 patients using an intensive multimodality MVHC program in an ideal clinical setting. One had sarcoidosis; another Parkinson's disease; a third renal hypertension; and a fourth diabetes/essential hypertension/anxiety disorder. Standard symptom reports and objective markers of disease were evaluated before, during, and after the treatment period. Results suggested substantial improvements as indicated by reductions in major signs, symptoms, and use of conventional medications in the four patients during a 3-week in-residence treatment phase and continuing through the home follow-up program. Behavioral Medicine 2000; 26(1):34-46.

Analysis of health insurance data of 693 people who used MVHC compared to 4148 demographically matched controls showed that over a 4 year period, hospital admissions were 11.4 times less for cardiovascular disease, 3.3 times less for cancer, 6.7 times less for mental health problems and substance abuse for the MVHC group. Program participants over 45 years had 88 percent less hospitalisation than controls. American Journal of Managed Care 1997; 3:135-144.

Chronic disease improved in 80% of 126 patients over a three month period using a multimodality MVHC treatment program (including diet, daily routine, yoga, TM, MA herbal compounds and Vedic Physiological Purification Program). Of the 10 chronic diseases studied, many of which were resistant to standard medical treatments, very significant improvement occurred in patients with chronic constipation, headache and chronic sinusitis and significant improvement was found with rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, eczema and hypertension. Positive changes, though not statistically significant, were evident for chronic bronchitis, psoriasis and diabetes. Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Integrale Geneeskunde 1989; 5(35): 58-94.

A study which analysed health insurance data of 2000 regular participants of TM over a 5 year period, found that compared to members of the same age and profession (total of 600,000), TM practitioners had 56% less hospitalisation for a range of diseases including: 87% less for cardiovascular disease (heart disease) and strokes, 55% for benign and malignant tumours, 87% less for diseases of the nervous system, 30% less for all infectious diseases and 30% less for all mental disorders. Overall hospitalisations were 69% less for TM practitioners over 40 years of age. Psychosomatic Medicine 1987; 49: 493-507.
